Stand Up Paddleboarding Gets Winterised

 The first round of the Frostbite Winter Stand Up Paddleboard Race Series got underway last weekend at the Hengistbury Head Activity Centre in Bournemouth, Dorset.

The Frostbite Series, which is in association with BaySup Paddleboard Club, has three stages across the South Coast; Bournemouth, South Devon and Hayling Island.

For a Sunday in November there was a great turnout of 34 entered paddlers comprising of 26 men and 8 women. Sprint racing was the agenda for the day and the 34 paddlers were sectioned into their categories heading off in the perfect, flat water conditions.

John Hibbard, winner of the combined event at this years' BSUPA nationals held in Watergate Bay, was fifth overall in the Class 1 race board category and is hopeful going into the next round of the series.

Round two is on Saturday 27th November in Kingsbridge, South Devon with race start is set for 10am. For a great day out and to see the paddlers in action head to the Crabshell Inn. For all information on the event and the Frostbite Race Series check out the Bay Sup site HERE
